Washington man accused of rape, sexual battery

WASHINGTON – On March 5, 2022, a Washington Police Department Detective began an investigation after receiving a report of an alleged sexual assault.

A search warrant was later served at a residence on West Walnut Street by officers with Washington Police Department and Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.

A felony warrant was then issued for the arrest of 26-year-old Jesus Rivera-Laviena on charges of rape, attempted rape, criminal confinement with bodily injury, sexual battery, and domestic battery.

On Friday, March 11, 2022, Washington Police officers located Rivera-Laviena and arrested him without incident.
