Washington County Sheriff’s Dept. investigating a double fatality accident

SALEM – The Washington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal accident that happened at 5:46 p.m. on Wednesday on State Road 60 West, west of Rush Creek Road.

According to police, a 2006 Chevy Colorado pickup truck, driven by 41-year-old Jerrod Dotts of Campbellsburg was traveling west on State Road 60 when it collided head-on with a 2014 Ford F-150, driven by 62-year-old Wyatt Batchelor of Campbellsburg. Batchelor was traveling west on State Road 60.

After the crash occurred, a westbound 2017 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Brent Ingram of Campbellsburg, crashed into the Chevy Colorado which was stationary in the roadway.

Police say Dotts died from his injuries at the scene.

Batchelor died from his injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Ingram was transported to Saint Vincent Hospital in Salem for what police say were minor injuries.

Crash scene reconstructionists from the Indiana State Police were called to the scene to assist. The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Washington County EMS, Salem Fire Department, Salem Police Department, Washington County Coroner’s Office, and the Indiana State Police.
