Two arrested after police find drugs in hotel room

BEDFORD – On Saturday, Feb. 17th at 3:39 a.m. a Bedford Police officer noticed some suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Quality Inn on Constitution Avenue.

Officers later learned that the individuals that were participating in the possible suspicious activity were staying in a room at the hotel.

 Officers knocked on the door of the hotel room and made contact with the occupants. A male answered the door. The male told police the room was rented to 41-year-old Brandy Mize, of Poland, IN.  There was another female in the room, 47-year-old Angela Burke, of Bedford.

Mize allowed officers to search her room. 

On Burke’s bed, officers found a black bag with a WD 40 can in it. The can had a false bottom that contained a plastic bottle, inside was a powdery substance that tested positive for Fentanyl. Also located in the same black bag was a pill bottle containing 22 pills identified as Legend drug Promethazine Hydrochloride. Burke denied the items were hers and she was detained.

 Mize told police she knew nothing about the items in Burke’s bag. She did admit she had concealed items in her bra. She handed the officers three plastic baggies containing 13 grams of meth and three glass smoking devices.

Burke faces charges of possession of a narcotic drug and legend drug deception. Mize faces charges of possession of meth, possession of a narcotic drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
