Gloria Gayle Hawkins

September 25, 1932 – January 23, 2022

Gloria Gayle Hawkins, 89, of Bedford, passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022 at Bliss Place in Bedford.

Born September 25th, 1932, in Lawrence County, to Raymond C. and Helen (Fisher) Reuter.  She married Zelbert B. Hawkins, Jr. on March 8, 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 11th, 2013.  She was a very active member of the Dive Christian Church.  She retired from Ford/Visteon after working there for over 26 years and was a former member of the Friendly Club and of the WBCCI Airstream Club. A euchre club and the Dive Ladies Aide.  

Survivors include two children son, Jerry Hawkins, and wife, Linda, of Bedford; daughter, Debbie Maze, and husband, Jon, of Bedford; five grandchildren: Missy Brown and husband, Stacey, Mindy Kimbrel and husband, Justin, Justin Pogue, and wife, Michelle, Marci Bennett, and husband, Bryce, Heath Hawkins and wife, Angel; eight great-grandchildren Jordan Taylor and husband, Dustin, Taylor Brown and wife, Kaitlyn, Clayton Brown, Dalton Brown, Brynlea Bennett, Kaedyn Bennett, Ella Pogue, and Lilly Hawkins; two great-great-grandchildren: Amelia Brown and Nora Brown and a sister-in-law, Wilma Jeanie Reuter.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, a son, Randy Hawkins, and wife Emily and another daughter-in-law: Debbie Hawkins and one brother, Charles Dean Reuter.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 27th at the Dive Christian Church with Taylor Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Dive Christian Church cemetery immediately after the service. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 26th at the Day and Carter Mortuary from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service begins at Dive Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends consider memorial donations be made to Dive Christian Church Ground and Maintenance Fund, The Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services, or The Hillcrest Building Fund.
