Austin man arrested for violating a protection order

MITCHELL – An Austin man was arrested after Mitchell Police officers were called to a home in the 600 block of West Frank Street on Saturday morning.

Randy Elam

A man called police and reported 35-year-old Randy Elam was bothering a woman who had filed a no-contact order against Elam.

When police went to the home the woman told police Elam was not at the home. But officers noticed a white Chevrolet Malibu in front of the home that was registered to Elam. Police say Elam’s vehicle had been parked there for some time because the windows were all frosted over.

A male at the home told police, “Well if he’s (Elam) in here then you need to find him”.

Officers found Elam hiding behind the door frame in the front bedroom closet.

Elam was arrested for violating the no-contact order on a charge of invasion of privacy.

Elam told police,  “She wanted me to come over to see my son”.
