Earl William Lucas, Jr.

March 21, 1942 – January 16, 2022

Earl William Lucas, Jr., 79, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at his residence.

Born March 21, 1942, in Monroe Co., he was the son of Earl William Lucas, Sr., and Alice (Butcher) Lucas. He married Janice Wisley on August 23, 1963, and she survives. He graduated from Smithville High School and attended Indiana University. He owned APW Automotive Store in Bloomington and formerly owned Divine Automotive and co-owned Full-O-Pep Automotive and ARCO Motors. He was a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church and a charter member of the Lions Club. He loved his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Janice, of Fayetteville; a son, Greg Lucas (Brooke), of Bedford; four granddaughters, Alexis Ann Lucas, Lilly Christina Lucas-Whitmire, Isabella Maryann Lucas, Presley Jayne Lucas, and Brooke’s son, Greyson Lingenfelter; two brothers, Danny Lee Lucas (Cozetta) and Dwight Douglas Lucas (Linda).

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 20th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in the Fayetteville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
