Indiana Commission for Higher Education opens call for candidates for next commissioner

INDIANA – The Indiana Commission for Higher Education’s search committee is accepting submissions for the position of Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education until Saturday, January 15.

The search committee consists of six long-serving Commission members – Jud Fisher (search committee chair), Dan Peterson, Chris Murphy, Chris LaMothe, Dennis Bland, and Mike Alley. The committee is charged with identifying, reviewing, and evaluating candidates for the Commissioner position and making recommendations to the 14-member Commission for their consideration. Pursuant to IC 21-18-5-4, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education is the authorized body to approve and appoint the Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education as its Chief Executive Officer.

Submissions must include the completed “Call for Candidates for the Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education” form and all requested materials. Submissions will be accepted via email at candidates@che.in.gov and regular or express mail. Submissions postmarked or received via email after midnight on January 15 will not be accepted. Following the confidential review of submissions, the search committee will conduct two rounds of interviews (virtual and in-person) of finalists in late February. The appointment of the Commissioner will be announced in mid-March 2022.
