MITCHELL – Come to Spring Mill State Park on Saturday, January 8th for their “Let’s Hike Together Winter Series” starting at 10:00 a.m.
This adventure will offer several trails, starting with the easiest and working towards a moderate level. If you want to join the group for one trail or sojourn together to explore the trail system at Spring Mill State Park, the choice is yours. There will be a $7 park entrance fee unless you have a park pass.
The first hike will begin on trail 7 Woodland Walk for a total distance of 2.5 miles. If this is all you can do for the day, you can stick around and explore the park in your car.
The next hike will then move to trail 4, Spring Mill Village Trail, rated easy (with some rugged terrain) and is a 1.9-mile loop. From there the intensity will increase with two more trails that are ranked “moderate,” Spring Mill Lake Trail (1.6 miles), and finish the day on Twin and Bronson Caves via Trail 3. This final trail is a 2-mile loop that flows through Donaldson Woods Nature Preserve.
Those in attendance are recommended to wear layered clothing and appropriate waterproof hiking/trail shoes for various terrain. Hiking poles are optional but suggested and plenty of water and snacks to carry along.
In the event of inclement weather, BTW reserves the right to cancel this event. Snow on the ground will not cancel this event. Bring snacks, plenty of water, and a sack lunch.
