Two arrested after stealing items from Walmart

BEDFORD – Two women were arrested in two different incidents on Thursday, December 23rd after they were caught stealing items from Walmart.

Haley Welsh, 23, of Norman, was caught by Walmart asset protection associates when she switched several UPC bar codes on several toys to lower-priced items.

Instead of scanning the price of the toy, asset protection associates watched Welsh scan items like pudding, gum, cosmetic products, and candy in place of the toys.

An employee called Bedford Police and reported the theft.

Welsh was stopped in the foyer of the store as she was leaving the building.

Police also found that Welsh had hidden several cosmetic items in a cosmetic bag that she failed to scan.

Welsh admitted to the crime saying her family was going through a financially rough time and she was trying to make sure her siblings had toys for Christmas.

Police say Welsh stole more than $386 in items.

Welsh was issued a summons to appear in Lawrence County Superior Court I on January 4, at 10:30 a.m. on a charge of theft.

Kim Williams, 61, of Orleans, was caught by asset protection associates after she failed to scan several items in her shopping cart.

Williams told police officers “I just screwed up big time”.

The asset protection associates watched Williams stack several items together allowing for only one item to be scanned.  Williams did this several times throughout her transaction. Other items of chicken and deli meat were never removed from the cart or scanned.

Williams was stopped as she was leaving the store.

Police say Williams stole more than $155 in items.

Williams was issued a summons to appear in Lawrence County Superior Court I on January 4, at 10:30 a.m. on a charge of theft.
