Mitchell City Council approves SIDC contract and 2022 schedule

MITCHELL – During the special Mitchell City Council meeting Monday evening, council members voted to approve the signature on the grant distribution contract presented by SIDC during the December 6th meeting and to set the meeting schedule for 2022.

The SIDC contract includes $25,000 that will be used for the purposes of administration services and an environmental study, to go with the planned $250,000 project to help renovate the homes of elderly members and those with disabilities.

The administration fees will cost $20,000, with the remaining $5,000 used for the environmental study. The money and project are not allowed to be used for homes with lead-based paint and will replace the roofing with shingles instead of metal to stretch the money further.

The signing of the contract was approved by the council members and turned in to SIDC.

The council then accepted the schedule for 2022 with council meetings taking place on the first Monday of the month, with the exception of July and September due to the Fourth of July and Labor day taking place on a Monday. Those meetings will be held on July 5th and September 6th which are both Tuesdays. immediately following the holiday.

The council voted to accept the new schedule before adjourning.
