John Edward Kowalski

1931 – 2021

John Edward Kowalski died with his family by his side on December 17, 2021. He was 90 years old.

He was born in Lyndhurst, NJ. He had been a resident of Randolph, NJ for more than 40 years and then retired in Cape Cod, Massachusetts for 17 years. He moved back to Mt. Arlington, NJ afterward to be closer to family. John was a plant engineer for an industrial battery manufacturer in Boonton, NJ for 30 years.

John had a full life of adventure. He loved to fish, boat, target shoot, hike, camp, and travel. He loved to spend time with his family and lifelong friends of more than 60 years. He also served as a deacon at his local church.

He is survived by two daughters, Sharon E. Jack and her husband, Nick from Phenix City, Alabama; Sandy L. Benstin and her husband, Mark of Bedford, Indiana and a sister-in-law, Betty Price and her husband Edd of Emmett, ID. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Lee, (August 15, 2020), and a daughter, Jennifer R. Lawlor, (June 2, 2019) and survived by Jennifer’s husband, Jason of Randolph. Also, surviving are his grandchildren Kenneth Ort from North Fort Myers, FL; Rachael and Morgan Benstin from Bedford, IN, and Caleigh and Liam Lawlor from Randolph, NJ, and a few great-grandchildren.

There will be no viewing or service at this time. A celebration of life service for John and Donna will be planned for the summer of 2022 in Randolph, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to The Presbyterian Church in Morristown, 65 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07960 in memory of John.
