Fire destroys barn and home on Todd Lane

HELTONVILLE – The home of Hunter Hamilton and Bret Roberts was destroyed in a fire early this morning. Both Hamilton and Roberts and their pets escaped from the blaze. Hamilton suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation and was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is now home.

Firefighters from Pleasant Run rushed to the home at 1148 Todd Lane at 12:58 a.m. When firefighters arrived they found the barn engulfed in flames. The barn is attached to the house.

Fire Chief Chad Hillenburg requested additional firefighters and tankers support from Shawswick, Marshall, Marion Townships, and Oolitic in Lawrence County, and Owen/Salt Creek Township Volunteer Fire Departments in Jackson County.

Firefighters had to shuttle water to the scene because there were no fire hydrants in the area.

Firefighters were on the scene battling the blaze until 4:47 a.m.
