ISP asking for assistance in Grant County hit and run

MARION– Investigators working from the Indiana State Police Peru Post are requesting information, from the public, about a Grant County crash in which a 20-year-old Marian, IN man, died.

Friday morning at approximately 8:00 a.m., Trooper A.J. Coffee was dispatched to I-69 near the 261-mile mark on a report of a deceased man. When Coffee arrived, he found a male, later identified as 20-year-old Michael Nash of Marion, IN, laying in the median. Nash was pronounced deceased by the Grant County coroner.

Preliminary evidence indicates sometime after approximately 1:35 a.m. Nash was riding a bicycle, in the road, on southbound I-69 near the 261.5-mile marker. Nash’s bike was hit by a southbound vehicle, ejecting him into the median. The vehicle which hit the bicycle fled the crash scene.

Evidence indicates the bicycle was hit by a semi-tractor which continued southbound after the crash.

Anyone with information about this case should contact the Indiana State Police by calling 1-800-382-0689 (inside Indiana) or 1-765-473-6666.
