Red Devils burn past Stars in 3 sets

JEFFERSONVILLE – Jeffersonville posted its first Hoosier Hills Conference victory with a three-set sweep of Bedford North Lawrence during high school volleyball action on Saturday.

The Red Devils (8-17 overall, 1-4 in the league) burned to a 25-20, 25-9, 25-21 victory.

The Stars (3-13, 0-5) had to adjust to the absence of junior setter Annie Waggoner, who was gone on a softball recruiting visit.

“We were scrappy, but our scrappiness didn’t match Jeff’s,” BNL coach Gabrielle Arthur said. “I thought the girls did a great job of adjusting to a new lineup. Trista (Stigall) did a great job stepping up. Annie has large shoes to fill and she really showed up today. Carlee (Kern) and Maddy (Bennett) shined on defense with Cami (Anderson) dominating at the right side. She has really stepped into that position and led in kills today.”

Anderson totaled 4 kills while Bennett and Reva Tincher added 3 each. Bennett and Kern had 10 digs each on the back row.

BNL will host Madison on Monday.
