Two nights of fun remain for the 74th Persimmon Festival

MITCHELL – There are two more days that remain of the 74th Persimmon Festival with plenty of things to do, people to see, and things to buy.

Thursday evening the sun shined through making it a wonderful evening for the attendees. Crowds were able to hear and enjoy Mark Vice and the Wray Brothers perform on the stage with gospel music.

This evening’s music performers will be the OCD Band at the main stage kicking off at 6:00 p.m., followed by the long-time performer’s Endless Summer Band taking the stage at 8:00 p.m.

The amusement rides were all in full swing with plenty of fun for kids of all ages. There were plenty of food vendors to be able to appease in appetite with all the normal offerings for this year’s festival.

Most were ready to come and take in the sights and sounds of Mitchell’s greatest week of the year.

The Persimmon Festival is a great place to gather for the locals of the community. However, many travel from surrounding counties and other states to enjoy the fall festivities.

“We come every year, and I really enjoy this festival. We have come over the last 15 years whenever they have it,” Brice Cole, Salem.

Thomas Graves attended the festival for the very first time. “I come from the north part of Illinois and this is my first time here. I wanted to see what all they had to offer. My wife and I enjoy traveling several places a year and we wanted to try this festival out.” The Graves are on vacation and headed to Florida for the remainder of their trip.

WQRK 105.5 Southern Indiana Classic Hits radio station had a great time seeing new faces and visiting with those that come to see them year after year. Their great music and welcoming atmosphere was surrounded with those excited to get the 2021 Persimmon Festival tee shirt and sign up for a chance to win Holiday World tickets.

There’s still a lot to take in with the two remaining days of the festival. Suzanne Patton, 2021 Persimmon Festival Chair and her team have packed the remaining schedule with tons of fun and exciting events to take in.
