Four arrested with drug-related charges after vehicle rams Paoli police car

PAOLI – On Sunday at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers with the Paoli Police Department, assisted by French Lick Police officers and the Orange County Sheriffs Department deputies, served a search warrant at a residence on Grease Gravy Road.

Upon arrival, a male exited an outbuilding. The male disobeyed police orders to halt and continued toward a vehicle.

The male then attempted to flee in that vehicle and crashed into a parked truck. Officers gave commands from the back of the vehicle when the subject accelerated backwards at a high rate of speed, nearly striking several officers.

The male then rammed a park Police vehicle which disabled both his vehicle and the police vehicle.

Officers removed the male from the vehicle and was taken into custody.

Officers were then able to redirect their attention toward the home. Officers ordered a female to exit the home. She did comply, however when she opened the door, a pitbull mixed dog charged the officer that was standing on the front steps of the home.

The officer tried to backpedal away from the biting dog, but was unsuccessful in doing so. The officer could not escape the dog attack and was forced to shoot a single shot, which unfortuately put the dog down. The officer had minimal injuries and did not need medical attention.

The officers then secured the residence and conducted their search. Officers located methamphetamine, a legend drug, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and multiple cell phones in the home.

Officers also located a large quantity of meth, scales, and syringes in the truck used to ram the police vehicle. Police arrested Dustin Joy on charges of attempted murder of law enforcement, resisting law enforcement, dealing meth, possession of meth, possession of a syringe, and driving while his driver’s license was suspended. He was also wanted on a warrant out of Jefferson county.

Elizabeth Moon was charged with dealing meth, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and maintaining a common nuisance.

Tiffany Wood faces charges of possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a common nuisance.

Chris McGaughey was wanted on a felony warrant out of Lawrence County and faces additional charges of possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a common nuisance.
