INDIANA – Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority today announced COVID-19 impact grants to assist Indiana’s low-income communities in preventing, preparing for, and responding to the pandemic.
IHCDA is awarding approximately $100,000 to each of the six Indiana non-profit organizations that are committed to meet specific outcomes for low-income families and communities. To receive funding, these organizations submitted their plan to achieve an outcome in one of the following areas: financial well-being, safe and affordable housing, access to health/mental health services, transportation to community services, and community coordination.
“Communities across our state have felt the impacts of the pandemic,” Crouch said. “It’s important that as we recover, we are investing in local community-based work to support Hoosiers in need. This funding will provide further assistance to the Hoosiers these non-profits serve.”
IHCDA is pleased to announce the grant awardees for the 2021 COVID-19 Impact Grant. The full list of awardees and their projects is below:
- Hoosier Uplands Economic Development Corp.: Transportation Assistance Program
- NeighborLink Indianapolis Foundation, Inc.: COVID Recovery Initiative: Senior Citizen and Homeowner Assistance
- Foster Success: Financial Literacy Initiative for Foster Youth
- Prosperity Indiana: Increasing Financial Resource Alternatives to Payday Lending
- Fathers and Families Resource and Research Center, Inc.: Workforce Development for At-risk Single Fathers
- YWCA of Northeast Indiana, Inc.: Mental Health and Substance Abuse Disorder Treatments
“IHCDA is committed to making impactful investments into communities across the state,” said Jacob Sipe, Executive Director of IHCDA. “These grants are going to non-profits so that areas of our state with additional needs can be met.”
The funding for these projects was provided through the Coronavirus, Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) through the Community Service Block Grant (CSBG).
