BEDFORD –Following Governor Holcomb’s executive order, the North Lawrence Community Schools will be extending the mask requirement inside all school buildings until October 1, 2021.

In an announcement released by North Lawrence Community School Superintendent Dr. Ty Mungle stated “The order, issued Wednesday, eases quarantine requirements for students if all children and adults in the school wear masks properly throughout the day. This supports our goal of keeping children in school and out of quarantine due to exposure, which has become increasingly challenging as Lawrence County remains in “red” advisory level status according to the Indiana State Department of Health. Since the mask requirement was announced last month, the number of students requiring quarantine has decreased by more than 50%.

This pandemic has presented countless challenges to our students, parents, faculty, and staff. We understand and share your frustration as this pandemic continues to linger and cause disruption to our children’s lives. As always, we thank you for your support as we navigate these uncertain times while holding our children’s health, safety, and education as the top priority.”

NLCS will continue to keep the parents, students, and the public informed of any updates and changes.
