Rural Kokomo man dies in Howard County crash

KOKOMO – Thursday at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police and the Kokomo Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on Washington Street at Havens Street, where a rural Kokomo man died.

The preliminary crash investigation by Troopers Kyle Miller and Dustin Rutledge revealed that 33-year-old Lindsey Ziliak, of Kokomo, was driving a 2009 Ford Fusion north on Washington Street near Havens Street. Timothy Edwards, 36 rural Kokomo, driving a 2007 Honda motorcycle southbound on Washington Street near Havens Street.

Ziliak attempted to turn west onto Havens Street and pulled into the path of the motorcycle. Edwards attempted to avoid hitting the Ford by laying the motorcycle down on the ground, his body’s momentum carried him forward causing him to hit the Ford.

Edwards was transported, via ambulance, to a local hospital. Despite life-saving measures, he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

This is an ongoing investigation, but at this time neither the use of alcohol nor drugs is suspected as having contributed to the crash.

Troopers were assisted at the crash scene by the Kokomo Police Department, the Kokomo Fire Department, St Vincent’s Hospital EMS, and Howard County Emergency Management.
