Frank J. Slowey

November 27, 1925 – August 23, 2021

Frank J. Slowey, 95, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

Born November 27, 1925, in Holy Cross Iowa, he was the son of Roy and Lidwina (Link) Slowey. He married Ann M. Klansek on November 27, 1952, and she preceded him in death on October 26, 1991. He then married Grace Snow Greene on July 11, 1998, and she survives. Frank was the store manager for W.T. Grants, Manager and Owner of Ben Franklin in Bloomington, and later became a Realtor in Bloomington. He was a graduate of St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa; served in the Merchant Marines during WWII; and a veteran of the United States Army serving in
the Korean War. Frank was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; active in the Boy Scouts; and volunteered with the St Vincent de Paul Society.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Slowey, of Bedford; three sons, David, and Sandy Slowey, of Denver, CO, John Slowey, of Portland, OR, and Bill Slowey, of Bloomington; two granddaughters, Anna and Michael S. of Longmont, CO and Stacia and Mackinzie M. of Rapid City, SD; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ann; brothers and sister-in-law, Jim and Marion Slowey, and Merlin Slowey; sister and brother-in-law, Eileene and Ed Bartz; brother-in-law, Frank and Maureen Klansek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m..on Monday at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
