Officials would like to express their gratitude to Deborah Piston-Hatlen, the Farm to Family Fund (F2F) board and their volunteers. Piston-Hatlen and her organization stepped in immediately in 2020 when COVID-19 made it no longer practical for the Hoosier Hills Food bank to send a truck to the market for food donations.

Deborah Piston-Hatlen

Piston-Hatlen built on the F2F program that had been going since 2012 at the Bloomington Winter Farmers’ Market and 2018 at the Tuesday Farmers’ Market, extending it to year-round at the Saturday community market.  She and her board raised the funds, organized the program, reached out to vendors and organized pickup and delivery to serve the agencies working with our food insecure community and to support farmers.

At the close of each Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market, F2F purchases produce, meat, and dairy that farmers wish to sell at half price. This food is donated to The Rise, the Community Kitchen of Monroe County, and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard.

Strictly M & M will headline this Saturday’s entertainment from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
