SEYMOUR – Bedford North Lawrence’s Grace Tanksley finished third during the Seymour Invitational during girls cross country action on Thursday.

The Stars settled for fourth in the five-team field with 93 points. Seymour, with four runners in the top six, won the meet with 22 points.

Tanksley was a constant threat among the leaders. She crossed the line in 21:24.41. Seymour’s Vivienne Siefler won the individual race in 21:03.78, while her teammate Hayley Harpe was second in 21:04.06.

“Grace had a really strong race,” BNL coach Jill Vance said. “She was with the lead pack the whole time. She was challenging for that front spot. She was down after Saturday’s race (in the season opener at Terre Haute), unhappy with her time, but I told her not to worry about it.”

BNL’s Ella Peek was 24th in 29:32.56 and Emma Baumgart was 25th in 29:39.56 as that duo carved off significant time.

The Stars will host the annual Scott Hiles Invitational on Monday.
