Mary R. Fisher

August 13, 1970 – August 10, 2021

Mary R. Fisher, 50, of Bedford, passed away at 6:47 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born August 13, 1970, in Virginia, she was the daughter of Ken and Judie (Brown) Armstrong. She was a Lead Solutions Advocate with J.A. Benefits for 28 years and had attended the Donica Church of Christ.

Mary was a friend to all, having two daughters of her own, she raised countless others who lovingly referred to her as ‘Mother Mary’. She took in a band of misfits and turned them into a family. She was always up for an adventure and traveling to the beach. She was the perfect hostess, she planned amazing parties and loved a good theme party. Her home was always open to her daughters’ friends. She attended all of the sporting events any of her ‘kids’ were involved in. She was the biggest fan, cheerleader, supporter (sometimes for the other team). She was a great side-line coach and taught many life lessons. Mary was an avid reader and could finish a book in a night.

Survivors include two daughters, Josie and Katie Fisher, both of Bedford; the father of her girls, Steven Fisher, of Scotland, IN; two brothers, Kenneth Brian Armstrong, of Bloomington and Mike Kern and wife, Michelle, of Bedford; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; her dogs, Duke, Buddy, and numerous neighborhood animals.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 16th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Celebrant Alex Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15th, and from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday, August 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Josie and Katie Fisher.
