State Road 159 will close July 6 in Clay County

CLAY CO. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a small structure replacement project will close State Road 159 on or after Tuesday, July 6 over an unnamed tributary to the Eel River, located nearly two miles north of Coalmont. 

The roadway is scheduled to reopen on Monday, September 6. The official detour follows S.R. 48, U.S. 41, S.R. 246, and back.

This project was awarded to CLR for $1.7 million. This contract also included the following completed projects, a small structure replacement with a bridge on S.R. 159, just over one mile south of S.R. 246, and a small structure replacement on S.R. 157 in Greene County, north of S.R. 48. 

Also, in Vigo County, two small structure replacements are completed on S.R. 159, one located over an unnamed tributary to Splunge Creek, located nearly six miles north of S.R.246, and the other project located nearly four miles north of S.R. 246. The entire contract is scheduled for completion in September of this year.
