Orange County man arrested after a fatal accident

ORANGE CO. – Indiana State Police troopers from the Jasper Post arrested 18-year-old Keeghan Chandler Preston Jones, of Paoli, on a warrant today on charges stemming from a fatal crash that occurred in February near Orleans.

Jones is being held in the Orange County jail on two counts of reckless homicide and two counts of operating a vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance causing death.

Killed in the accident were 15-year-old Kyndell Bailey and 16-year-old Jocelyn Phillips.

Injured in the crash was 15-year-old Trandon Blevins, of Paoli and Jones.

According to troopers, they responded to the fatal crash at 8:20 p.m. on February 14th on County Road 500 North.

Jones was traveling west on the county road when he lost control of the 2006 Pontiac. The vehicle went off the south side of the road and flipped multiple times before landing on its roof in a field.

Both Bailey and Phillips died at the scene.

Jones and Blevins were transported by ambulance to area hospitals for treatment.

Assisting at the scene were, deputies with Orange County Sheriff’s Office, officers with the Paoli and Orleans Police Departments, Orange County Rural Distract 2 Volunteer Fire Department first responders, and an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew.
