Seymour Police Department investigate robbery Friday afternoon

SEYMOUR – At approximately 2:46 p.m. on Friday, Seymour Police Department telecommunications received a call from Northside Liquors reporting a robbery had just occurred.

Seymour Police responded and were able to intercept a vehicle matching the description given by the caller as it left the store at a high rate of speed northbound on State Road 11 or Ewing Street.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop for police, initiating a pursuit. The vehicle then turned north on I-65 at Exit 55 and continued to flee at a high rate of speed.

Seymour officers continued the pursuit and were assisted by various agencies deploying stop devices as the driver continued north on I-65. Near the 85-mile marker, the suspect’s vehicle left the roadway terminating the pursuit.

The male driver then fled on foot into a field where he was apprehended a short time later.

The male passenger resisted arrest and was taken into custody at the vehicle.

At this time, evidence has been collected and positive identification is pending on one of the suspects.

These two suspects are also implicated in another similar robbery in the area.

The two men face multiple charges, including a felony charge of robbery.
