Fairchild Communications Inc. was chosen to provide fire alarm monitoring and to ensure that the fire alarms are used to notify the local fire department. The contract included $1,149 for the installation of the alarm system and $540 a year for monitoring the fire alarm system.

LCIS received nominations for new board members – Jennifer Armstrong, Brian Grissom, and Jason Lyons. The board will collect and review their resumes and will make a final decision to fill the two open positions on the board.

During the meeting, the public asked if the school will be employing a school resource officer. The LCIS are curently partnering with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department to discuss this matter. The school would have to fund this position 100 percent. If they have a resource office, LCIS would be the only elementary school in the county that has a resource officer.

LCIS will have security cameras to allow them to monitor the construction process.

On Saturday, May 22, LCIS will host a yard sale at the school. The sale will begin at 8 a.m.

The next public school board meeting will be held on Thursday, May 27 at 7 p.m. The board anticipates the announcement of the hiring of teachers and support staff.
