Bedford boy arrested after breaking into a home through the animal door

BEDFORD – Bedford Police arrested a 9-year-old boy after they were called to the 1200 block of U Street after the homeowners returned home from being out of town and discovered items missing from their home.

According to Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore, the crime was captured on the homeowner’s security camera.

Chief Moore said the male juvenile entered the home through the animal door.

The boy took food.

“This is not the first time the juvenile entered the home without the homeowner’s permission,” said Chief Moore.

Officers located the boy at his home and contacted juvenile probation.

The boy was issued a summons to appear in juvenile court on charges of theft and residential entry and was released to a family member.
