US Marshals warning about con artists

UNDATED – The US Marshals in the Southern District of Indiana are warning residents about con artists who are using local telephone numbers seeking residents to “pay a fine” for allegedly failing to report for jury duty or failing to pay taxes allegedly owed.

The scammers are telling residents they will be arrested if you don’t buy a prepaid debit or gift card and then read the card number over the phone to the scammer.

The US Marshal service warns DON’T be taken in.

The Marshal Service will NEVER ask for a credit or debit card number or personal banking information.
