Ivy Tech Community College breaks ground on new Biology Outdoor Learning Lab

BLOOMINGTON –  Ivy Tech Bloomington is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the Biology Program’s Outdoor Learning Lab on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Indiana Center for the Life Sciences on the Ivy Tech campus.

Present at the ceremony will be Jennie Vaughan, Chancellor, Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington, and Sarah Cote, Department Chair, Biology, and Biotechnology.

This outdoor learning environment will eventually include native gardens, beehives, wooded trails, bird blinds, an intermittent pond, an outdoor classroom, and a picnic pavilion.

The space will allow Ivy Tech students to study the diversity and functions of biology as they happen. The space will also be open to the public with activities and scheduled programs for all ages.

The groundbreaking ceremony will include brief information about the history and future of the Outdoor Learning Lab and will include planting the first plants for our native garden!
