Two public hearings held final Monday evening prior to the Bedford City Council meeting

BEDFORD – Two public hearings were held Monday night prior to the Bedford City Council meeting.

The first public meeting was held in regards to vacating an alley between 13th and 14th streets off of Q Street in Bedford.

Ronald and Heather dela Cruz asked for the alley to be vacated. Their neighbor agreed to allow them to use the area that is set to be vacated.

Byron Steele appeared on behalf of the property owners who state this alley no longer serves a use, and there are no utilities located underneath.

During the City Council meeting, the council passed a second passage on an ordinance to vacate the alley and a final passage is expected next month.

A second public hearing was held on behalf of TASC Bus Director Dennis Parsley authorizing a grant in the amount of $2,300 to purchase a refrigerator, microwave and a 4-foot floor fan.

The grant will be a 80/20 match. The city will pay $460 in their match.

During the Bedford City Council meeting, the council passed a resolution for TASC to move forward with the grant.
