LCIS votes 6-1 to accept a contract and lease with NLCS

SPRINGVILLE – The Lawrence County Independent Schools voted 6-1 Thursday to accept a contract and lease agreement with North Lawrence Community Schools.

The contract is for the parcel of land the former Springville Elementary School sits on. The lease agreement is for two parcels of land beside the school.

The terms and conditions of the contract and lease agreement were not divulged during the public meeting.

On Monday, the Indian Creek Township advisor board and representatives of Lawrence County Independent Schools will meet in executive session to discuss the disposition of Fayetteville Elementary School. On Tuesday, a public meeting will be held at the Indian Creek Township Fire Station at 7 p.m. to vote on the issue.

In other business:

  • LCIS voted to enter into a contract with Indiana Charter Services
  • Officials are planning kindergarten screenings. A date will be released soon.
  • Approved an ad for the Bedford North Lawrence High School yearbook
  • Representatives from Trine University informed LCIS officials they will be evaluated on enrollment numbers and financial evaluations.
