Teen issued a summons on drug charges

BEDFORD – A 17-year-old male was arrested after a Bedford Police officer stopped his vehicle for a traffic violation Friday at State Road 37 and 39th Street.

The traffic stop was made at 8:23 p.m.

According to Bedford Police Department Chief Terry Moore, the teen was stopped for an equipment violation.

“A K-9 was requested and gave a positive alert,” said Chief Moore. “Officers searched the vehicle and located a smoking device inside a shoe that belonged to the male which tested positive for methamphetamine.”

Juvenile probation was contacted and the male was released to his parents with a promise to appear in court.

The teen faces charges of possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle while never obtaining a driver’s license.
