Intoxicated man arrested after found stumbling in traffic at a drive-through

BEDFORD – A French Lick man was arrested Saturday after Bedford Police officers were called to Burger King because of an intoxicated employee causing a disturbance in the parking lot.

Tyler Shipman

When police arrived at 11:16 a.m. they found 27-year-old Tyler Shipman in the parking lot. He told police he was just trying to get home because his manager told him he could not finish his shift.

Police say Shipman was intoxicated demonstrating slurred speech, poor dexterity and smelled of alcohol.

The manager told police, Shipman works the grill during his shift. She was concerned for his safety and told him to leave. While waiting for officers to arrive, Shipman stumbled into the drive through lane traffic.

While speaking with police, Shipman dropped the cigarette he was smoking from his mouth and stumbled while he attempted to pick it up. He also had to use the dumpster to regain his balance. Once Shipman picked his cigarette up, he attempted to place it back into his mouth but missed his mouth several times.

Shipman was arrested on a charge of public intoxication without further incident.
