Lawrence County Soil & Water Conservation District Annual Meeting is Scheduled

(LAWRENCE CO.) – The annual meeting of the Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District will be held on March 15, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting is to give a full report of all activities and financial affairs that have occurred since the last annual meeting. It is planned to also elect a supervisor for the Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District.

The public is invited to attend.

In 2020, Lawrence County SWCD provided assistance to more than 300 farmers within the district.

Cover crops help prevent erosion and build soil health.

“We assisted landowners with various practices that helped with resource concerns, we did cover crops to help with erosion, and build soil health with our agriculture farmers. The Lawrence County SWCD did pasture reseeding, access roads, and heavy use pads with areas that are muddy and heavy manure with our grazing producers. Lawrence County is the number one beef cattle producer in the State of Indiana,” said Whitney Baldwin Lawrence County Soil Water Conservation District.

The mission of the Lawrence County Soil and Water District is to provide assistance, education and technical service to the land users of Lawrence County in conserving soil, water, and related natural resources.

The Lawrence County SWCD was established in 1957.
