Avon-Washington Township Public Library to Host Virtual Comic-Con

(UNDATED) – On March 1-7, the Virtual Will Eisner Memorial Comic Book Convention at the Avon-Washington Township Public Library will offer attendees a full week of graphic novel and pop culture celebration.

The con is a fun, free, and family-friendly online event that brings together fans and creators – old and young – in celebrating the importance of stories and fandoms that connect people and enrich their lives.

The event is dedicated to Will Eisner, the father of the graphic novel, who is considered one of the most important contributors to the development of sequential art.

Highlighting graphic literature, sequential art and comics as a literary medium, the conference includes a virtual expo hall featuring local and regional artists, authors, cosplayers, crafters and media creators. Presentations and chats give attendees an opportunity to deep dive into topics of interest; fandom meetups provide opportunities to discuss favorite characters and meet others with similar passions; and everyone can take part in our virtual cosplay and art contests as well as a month-long graphic novel reading challenge.

In 2020, the Avon-Washington Township Public Library was chosen as a recipient of the American Library Association’s Will Eisner Graphic Novel Grant for Libraries – Growth Grant. The objective of the grant is to facilitate library-generated programs and services that will promote graphic novels to library patrons and to the local community. The convention is fully-funded by the grant.
