Charles Michael VanMeter, 65, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021, at his home.
Born August 2, 1955, in Mitchell, he was the son of Harry William Burton and Margaret Ann (VanMeter) Melton. He married Sandra Sue Jones February 21, 2004, and she preceded him in death August 16, 2019.
Charles retired from the State of Indiana and had served in security and as a correction officer.
Charles was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his step-sons, Marty Johnson of Bedford, Kevin Johnson of Bedford; siblings, Rick VanMeter of Bedford, Donna Diamond of Indiana, Butch VanMeter of Bedford, Marla Salazar of Mitchell, Elizabeth Parks of Scottsburg
His parents; stepfather, Loyed Melton, wife; daughter, Rosemarie VanMeter, step-son, David Eugene Johnson; and siblings, Melissa Overstreet and Loyed Thomas Melton, Jr., preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, February 20, at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Cremation will follow.
