Lawrence County Under Orange Travel Status

(BEDFORD) – The Lawrence County Commissioners this afternoon issued a travel advisory for Lawrence County.

It’s recommended if you’re in a county under “travel warning” only travel if it’s absolutely necessary. People are advised to travel only if it’s an emergency, otherwise, avoid all travel and stay home.

The county is currently under an orange travel status.

An orange travel status is issued when conditions threaten the safety of the public. Only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations.

The local police departments in Lawrence and surrounding counties are reporting slick road conditions and are responding to accidents.

Orange County Sheriff’s Department is reporting numerous accidents in their county and is requesting motorists stay home and avoid traveling.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and emergency personnel responded to a traffic accident on South I Street this afternoon.

Daviess County Sheriff’s Department is reporting they are working several slide-offs.
