ISP Trooper Honored with ISP Lifesaving Award

(RIPLEY CO.) – An Indiana State Police trooper was recognized for his heroism in rescuing a teen from a burning vehicle.

ISP Sgt. Jared Black, of the Versailles post, was awarded the Indiana State Police Lifesaving Award Monday.

According to ISP, in August 2020, Sgt. Black arrived at the scene of an accident in rural Riley County. Once on the scene, Sgt. Black found a 17-year-old trapped in a burning vehicle. Sgt. Black broke out the sunroof of the vehicle and helped the teen get to safety.
