Obituary: Robert M. Dybel

February 28, 1941 – February 3, 2021          

Robert M. Dybel, 79, of Kuttawa, Kentucky, formerly of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in Fort Myers, Florida. 

He was born in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Matthew and Charlotte (Krakowiak).  He married Patricia Hopp on August 12, 1967, in Highland, Indiana and they shared 53 years together.

Robert graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.  In 1965, he joined the Army Reserves, serving in the Gulf War in 1991. He retired from General Motors in Bedford in 1999, after 34 years of employment. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Bedford for 44 years, St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Eddyville, Kentucky from 2011 to the present, American Legion Gillen Post #33 for 50 years and the Fun Timers Fishing Club from 2016 to the present.

Robert’s greatest joys in life were traveling (he visited three continents), fishing, time with family, eating out, playing cards and his time spent at his retirement home on Barkley Lake in Kentucky.

Surviving to cherish Robert’s memory are his wife Patricia of Kuttawa, Kentucky; daughter, Robin Dybel Griger of Fishers, Indiana; son, Jon B. Dybel (Racquel Hanks) of Bedford; two grandchildren, Eben Griger and Nina Griger; brothers, Michael Dybel of Libertyville, Illinois and Donald (Sandra) Dybel of St. Augustine, Florida; and eight nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services will be held at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with burial to follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
