Jayce Hughes

Police arrested 34-year-old Jayce Hughes at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on January 24th, officers were called to the Marathon Station located at 3966 State Road 37 after a report of a male attempted to purchase a case of Budweiser beer from an underaged employee. An employee must be 21 years old to sell alcoholic beverages.

When the underaged clerk refused to sell Hughes the beverages he attempted to bribe the employee with a $5 bill. The employee again denied him the sale of the beverages.

Hughes proceeded to pick up the package of beer, left a $10 bill on the counter and exited the station driving a silver Ford pickup.

Police attempted to make contact with Hughes but were unable to connect with him. The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Hughes’ arrest.
