Man Shot in Taylorsville, Suspect in Custody

(TAYLORSVILLE) – Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department deputies are investigating a shooting in the 9400 block of Main Street in Taylorsville.

Deputies arrived at the scene at 5:32 a.m. and found Justin Black suffered a bullet wound to the stomach.

Sheriff Matt Myers says the shooting occurred outside.

“Within minutes Sgt. Jarod Aspenson had the scene secured and the victim was receiving aid,” Sheriff Myers said. “The weapon was secured and the suspected shooter is cooperating with law enforcement.”

Black was transported by Lifeline helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.

Assisting at the scene Columbus Police Department, German Township Fire Department, EMS and Indiana State Police.

Bartholomew County authorities are on the scene of a shooting in Taylorsville this morning.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers says that the victim was flown to an Indianapolis area hospital after the incident, which happened just before 5 a.m. this morning in the 9000 block of Main Street in Taylorsville.

A suspect is in custody, the scene is secure and Myers says there is no threat to the public.

Main Street will be closed between U.S. 31 and County Road 650N until further notice. Columbus police and the German Township Fire Department are assisting at the scene.
