A 10-Year-Old Boy Riding Bicycle Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle on Vista Drive

(OOLITIC) – A 10-year-old boy riding his bicycle died Wednesday night after he was struck by a vehicle on Visita Drive.

The accident was reported at approximately 5:43 p.m. on Vista Drive near Meadow Lane in Oolitic.

Indiana State Police, Lawrence County Sheriff Department, Oolitic Police Department, Oolitic Fire Department, and a Seals Ambulance responded.

Indiana State Police Investigate the crash in the 100 block of Vista Drive Wednesday afternoon.

Upon arriving, emergency personnel found 10-year-old Camden Moore, of Oolitic, unresponsive.  A bystander was giving medical care to the child with the Oolitic Police Department providing assistance.

Camden was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bedford Hospital where he died from his injuries. An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday, December 24.

According to an ISP report, a 2016 Jeep, driven by 45-year-old Matthew Nikirk of Bedford, was traveling northbound on Vista Drive when his Jeep struck Camden, who was riding a bicycle.

Indiana State Police investigators are on scene conducting a crash reconstruction.

Assisting at the scene include Lawrence County Coroner’s Office, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, Oolitic Police Department, Oolitic Fire Department and Seals Ambulance Service.
