Obituary: Sally Nedra (Kern) DeKoker

September 8, 1942 – December 15, 2020

Sally Nedra (Kern) DeKoker, 78, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at her residence.

Born September 8, 1942, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Rev. Luther Fredrick Kern and Thelma Eileen (Trisler) Kern. She married Roger Wentle DeKoker in 1963 and he survives. She received her degree from Methodist Hospital and was a registered nurse at the Bedford Medical Center for over 40 years where she served as a staff nurse, educator, interim director of nursing, and infection control nurse. She was a member of the Dive Christian Church and the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her husband, Roger, of Bedford; a daughter, Jennifer L. Alexander, and husband, Keith, of Sellersburg; a son, Ronald B. DeKoker, of Bedford; a grandson, Aaron Alexander; siblings, Fred Kern, Bob Kern,
Nikki Wagner, Myra Wilson, Marvin Kern, Sherry Wade, and Scott Kern; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 21st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinhook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday, at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
