Obituary: James E. Ravenna

December 15, 1930 – December 2, 2020

James E. Ravenna, 89, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born December 15, 1930, to Julius and Margaret (Opie) Ravenna he married
Beulah Sparks on January 18, 1958, and she survives. James was a graduate of St. Meinrad class of 1948, served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean
Conflict previously worked at General Motors, was a barber, and retired as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He coached the Saint Vincent de Paul church league basketball team for many years, was a lifetime member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a 70-year member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of the Gillen Post 33 of the American Legion.

Surviving to cherish the memory of James is his wife, Beulah; two sons, Anthony (Aimee) Ravenna and Chris Ravenna; one daughter, Luanne Ravenna; one sister, Mary Lou (Ted) Elchynski; one brother, Paul (Ruth) Ravenna; along with several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nelda Ravenna; and one brother, Harold Ravenna.

Private family services will be held for James E. Ravenna with burial in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Contributions may be made in memory of James to the Men’s Warming Shelter or Becky’s Place.
