Firefighters Battle Ellettsville Wildland Fire

(ELLETSVILLE) – A field fire spread to more than 10 acres Thursday night sending several fire departments to the scene.

The call came in around 9:30 p.m. of a large field fire at 9856 West Ratliff Road.

An hour later the request for additional brush firefighting equipment and manpower was requested when the fire spread over approximately ten acres.

Several trees were falling while firefighters battled this blaze, making it very dangerous for firefighting crews especially during a night time fire.

Firefighters from Ellettsville, Beam Blossom Twp., Van Buren in Monroe County, Clay Township, Owen Valley Volunteer Fire Department in Owen County, and Hoosier National Forestry were requested to help battle the fire. IU Health Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
