(PEKIN) – Washington County Fire Departments are responding and mutual aid requested from Clark County fire departments for a large field and woods fire have been requested at 7984 Blankenbaker Road.
The call for the fire came in at 12:43 p.m. with the Pierce-Polk, Franklin, Jackson, and Salem Fire Departments dispatched to the call.
At approximately 1:20 p.m. the request for manpower from all Washington County fire departments as well as Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Department in Clark County was requested.
However, Monroe Township Fire crews continue to battle an industrial fire in Scottsburg.
The wind pushed the field fire into a nearby woods and has caused the fire to spread rapidly. The National Weather Service has a red flag warning in place due to high winds, and low humidity.
There is no word at this time on what caused this fire.
