Washington County Fire Departments Battling House Fire That Spread To Woods

(SALEM) – Several Washington County Fire Departments are battling a house fire that has spread to the woods at 5210 North Delany Park Road.

The call came in at 2:01 p.m. with firefighters reporting heavy black smoke. The dispatch reports that all the occupants of the home have made it out. Several spot fires caused the nearby woods to catch on fire.

At the time of the fire, all Washington County Fire Departments were battling a wildland fire near Pekin on Blankenbaker Road.

Monroe Township, Campbellsburg, Jefferson, Salem, and Gibson Township Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources was also asked to help with the blaze; however, several of their units are also battling other fires.

Driftwood Township in Jackson County is also assisting the fire departments.
