Obituary: Bobby Lee Harrell


November 2, 1930 – November 14, 2020

Bobby Lee Harrell, 90, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at White River Lodge, Bedford.

Born November 2, 1930, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Lin and Beachie (Wright) Harrell. Bobby married Adah Rhea Craig on October 11, 1953 in Reseda, California, and she survives.

Bobby was a graduate of Shawswick High School; was self-employed mason for many years and retired U.A.W. member from General Motors, where he also worked as a mason; a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War; and a lifetime member of the American Legion Gillen Post #33.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Adah Rhea Harrell, of Bedford; one son, Darren Harrell and wife, Anita, of Bedford; three daughters, Rhonda Folmer and husband, Bill, of Bedford, Renee Weiss and husband, Dan, of Bedford, and Raegan Atchison and husband, Travis, of Bedford; eight grandchildren, William Folmer; Nathan, Ethan, and Brandon Harrell; Keaton, Alayna, Kylee, and Spencer Atchison; 2 great granddaughters Jamey and Molly Folmer. Nieces and nephews; Denny Harrell, Pammy Terrell, Ann Grunel, Kathy Elliott, Laurie Doane, Steve Harrell, Judy Umphress, Rich and Jeff Imhoff, and Scott and John Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Virnard, Charles, Gene, Lawrence, and Victor Harrell; two sisters Joann Imhoff, Rhea Dawn Thomas and husband, Harry Lee and their son Todd Thomas, niece Vicky Harrell, and nephew Dave Cummings.

A graveside service will be held at Leatherwood Cemetery in Bedford, at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2020 with Pastor Rick Leach officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Honor Guard of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Bobby’s memory to the American Legion, Gillen Post #33, Bedford.
