Martin County Home Destroyed By Fire

(CALE) – A home in Martin County was destroyed by fire Monday evening in Cale.

Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Martin County Fire/Rescue responded to the residence in the 20562 block of Martin Lane at 5:33 p.m.

A firefighter from Martin County Fire/Rescue reported when he arrived on the scene the home was fully engulfed in flames and power lines were on the ground arching

According to Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Chief Monty Wright the residents of the home were not home at the time of the fire.

One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion at the scene.

As of 9:30 p.m. firefighters were still one the scene of the fire letting it burn itself out.

“The roof of the home was already sagging when we arrived on the scene. They were at least two people staying at the home. The cause of this fire is under investigation,” said Monty Wright Fire Chief Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Martin County Fire/Rescue, Martin County Sheriffs Department, Martin County Ambulance Service, and Daviess/Martin County REMC responded to the incident.
